Ulysses Unified Radio and Plasma Wave Experiment

    Description

The objectives of this investigation are (1) to investigate source positions of travelling solar radio bursts in the range from dc to 1 MHz; (2) to investigate the large-scale magnetic field topology and the electron density along the exciter trajectory as a function of heliographic latitude and longitude at distances of 0.1 AU to approximately 5 AU; (3) to investigate Jovian radio source locations in the range from dc to 1 MHz; and (4) to investigate waves in the plasma between dc and 35 kHz, their instabilities, their energy transport mechanisms, and the thermal electron density.
